We are thrilled to launch our interview series showcasing the accomplishments of startups within the Rockstart ecosystem. Starting with Contribe, a purpose-driven loyalty platform founded by Christoffer Bouet. By integrating social impact into loyalty programs, Contribe allows users to support meaningful causes such as planting trees or funding social initiatives every time they make a purchase without incurring additional fees. For brands, Contribe’s model boosts engagement and loyalty by aligning with the values of today’s conscious consumers.
With the support of Rockstart’s Emerging Tech ecosystem, Contribe has grown from concept validation to an ambitious scaling phase. Christoffer credits Rockstart not only for strategic insights and resources but also for its strong community of founders and advisors. As Contribe champions the “Good Shopping Movement,” Christoffer envisions a future where emerging technologies, particularly AI, continue to expand possibilities for social impact, transforming the retail experience into one where doing good is seamlessly integrated into every purchase. To dive deeper into Contribe’s journey and vision, Christoffer shares more details about his experiences, insights, and advice for fellow founders.
What first got you into entrepreneurship?
“I’ve always been driven by an urge to create and build something. I started my first company, a webshop when I was just 16. Later, after a period in the corporate world as a management consultant, I knew I had to return to that world of innovation and impact. The corporate world just didn’t fit; it was too defined, too constrained. Entrepreneurship gives me the space to challenge the status quo and actually change things that matter—ideally at a massive scale.”
Tell us more about Contribe. How did you and your co-founder come up with the idea?
“Contribe is a loyalty solution centered on social impact rather than traditional discounts. For customers, it means they can support meaningful causes—like environmental or social initiatives—with each purchase, at no extra cost. For brands, it boosts loyalty, engagement, and ultimately, performance. Originally, we explored just tracking donations, but we realized brands needed a solution that was commercially viable as well. So, we pivoted to this model, which actually draws from a setup I used in one of my early webshops.”
How have your objectives and goals changed since you first launched Contribe?
“At first, our main goal was simply to launch and validate our concept—proving that consumers would engage with the solution and that brands would see performance benefits. Now, with that solid foundation, our focus has shifted to scaling up. We’re dreaming big, and I truly believe Contribe has what it takes to become a global brand.”
What was/is your experience with Rockstart? How did its ecosystem support you along the way?
“Rockstart has been an incredible partner. The Emerging Tech team has provided us with valuable insights and support, and we’ve met advisors who are still part of our journey today. We’ve also formed lasting friendships with other founders in our cohort. I think it’s rare to find this level of community and support from an investor.”
Could you tell us more about the “Good Shopping Movement”? What does it mean for consumers and brands?
“The Good Shopping Movement is about redefining why we buy. Traditionally, shopping has been about products and price, with discounts as the primary driver. But today, more people want to know that their purchases align with their values. With Contribe, we’re making it possible for every transaction to support causes, shifting the entire retail experience into one where doing good is embedded in every purchase.”
What differentiates Contribe’s approach to impact compared to other solutions in the social and environmental space?
“Our focus is loyalty through impact, and we’ve designed Contribe around this idea that impact can be a direct driver of engagement, not just a checkbox on an ESG report. Many platforms focus on tracking or reporting, but we’re about enabling millions in funding to flow toward critical needs and allowing brands to connect with a new generation of consumers who value that.”
In your opinion, what is the future of the Emerging Tech industry? What are your predictions for Emerging Tech in the next 5-10 years?
“Emerging tech will only accelerate, especially with AI now making it easier to bring new ideas to market faster than ever. In five to ten years, I expect to see technologies we haven’t even imagined yet shaping the way we live and work. This is a space where the limits are constantly expanding, and I believe it’s set to transform every industry.”
What advice would you give to fellow Founders at the beginning of their journey?
“I’d say start by testing your idea in the market fast. Early feedback shows you if you’re solving a real problem and if customers are willing to pay for it. Too many founders dive headfirst without knowing what the market actually wants. Also, build a strong, reliable team from the start—one that can execute, adapt, and keep pushing forward. Great ideas matter, but it’s the team that turns them into reality.”
