The City of Amsterdam, Rockstart and the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) are excited to welcome eight new startups and scaleups to the second edition of LeapSprong Amsterdam – an open innovation program designed to accelerate sustainable solutions with regional impact. The focus of this edition is flexible solutions for a sustainable industry.
From industrial heat pumps and hydrogen platforms to AI-powered energy optimisation and ocean-based carbon removal. The startups selected for LeapSprong’s second edition can bring breakthrough technologies to the region—each with the potential to reshape industries and accelerate innovative solutions through collaboration.
Upheat
Upheat develops high-temperature industrial heat pumps that replace fossil fuels with clean electricity and waste heat recovery.
Hexwise
Hexwise develops a real-time digital twin platform that transforms industrial cooling systems into smart, self-optimizing assets, reducing energy use, cutting emissions, and boosting uptime.
SnerpaPower
SnerpaPower provides an AI-powered SaaS platform that helps power-intensive industries optimize energy use, cut costs, and monetize flexibility while enabling greater renewable integration.
HyER Power
HyER Power delivers hydrogen-based combined heat and power systems to decarbonize industry and overcome grid congestion.
H2 Terminals
Floating maritime hydrogen platforms to tackle land constraints and accelerate large-scale hydrogen deployment.
Sea02
SeaO₂ develops electrochemical Direct Ocean Capture technology that removes CO₂ from seawater at scale, enabling permanent storage and utilization for gigaton-level climate impact.
J4 Energy
J4Energy is an AI-powered platform that accelerates industrial decarbonization by turning complex energy data into fast, actionable plans.
0Plastic
0Plastic provides decentralized containerized pyrolysis units that convert plastic waste into clean, carbon-neutral diesel fuel, transforming waste into a local energy resource.
The support program is built around six pillars: market access through ecosystem partnerships in Amsterdam; facilities at the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam; access to relevant datasets; tailored guidance from industry experts; fundraising support via investor networks; and integration into an innovative startup community that fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Each of these companies address some of the region’s most urgent challenges —decarbonisation of industries, energy resilience, and circularity— with forward-thinking solutions.
To mark the start of the second edition of the program, ecosystem partners gathered on October 6th aboard the Clipper—a fitting venue for a program that’s all about navigating new frontiers. The event brought together key ecosystem partners, including TNO Fast Track, ROM InWest, NZKG, AMS Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions, the Amsterdam Chemistry Network, Royal Haskoning and the Port of Amsterdam. With the combined expertise of the LeapSprong ecosystem we brainstormed about pathways for these innovative solutions to land in the region. By offering tailored support ranging from business development and regional cooperation to funding pathways and technical expertise, LeapSprong empowers startups to scale their solutions and make a tangible impact. Stay tuned as the program kicks off on November 24th, marking the beginning of an exciting journey where startups, government, and industry partners will work side by side to accelerate the transition to a circular and sustainable energy system.
