MyCrops raises a seed round to expand their Digital Agronomist Platform across the EU and North America

Today we announce our co-investment in MyCrops, a Rockstart AgriFood portfolio company. MyCrops was part of Rockstart AgriFood 2020 and their first round came right after their participation in Rockstart AgriFood’s acceleration program. The startup plans to use the funding to expand the coverage of their Digital Agronomist Platform with existing customers and acquire new ones in the EU and North America.

MyCrops was founded to bring the power of data and technology to farms to help them operate more efficiently and successfully. Their technology provides a Digital Agronomist service by imaging plants and extracting actionable data using machine vision, enabling farmers to improve yields and reduce costs. Built using advanced computer vision technology combined with expert human agronomists, the MyCrops precision agriculture intelligence platform tracks plants around the clock, and offers smart insights and customized recommendations and treatment for plants. The platform uses technology that mimics an expert agronomist’s eye to help you identify issues early, prevent crop loss, and maximize yields. Their technology comes at an auspicious moment in digital agriculture – a 2016 report from Deloitte projected that with new techniques, IoT could potentially increase agricultural productivity by an incredible 70 per cent by 2050.

“Our reason to invest in MyCrops was not only centred on their impressive technology, it was compounded by the team’s ability to adapt and learn very quickly whilst we worked together through the Rockstart accelerator. This ability is showcased again now that the company is expanding the product application to new crops (both indoor and outdoor) in multiple geographies. We have a lot of faith in the team and the tech they developed to help farmers run more efficient and higher yielding production.”

Mark Durno, Managing Partner, Rockstart AgriFood

“Helping farmers to grow healthier, higher-yielding plants has always been our mission. The new funds allow us to expand the coverage of our Digital Agronomist Platform with existing customers and acquire new ones in the EU and North America.”
