I love Gidsy.com. Not to say I’m totally addicted to it. Gidsy is a guide where you can book and offer tours, activities, workshops and other fun things to do. Organized by locals, so no commercial stuff. It’s fun, because the tours and activities are very creative and unexpected. Gidsy’s slogan is ‘Do something different’. You can have dinner at a chef cook’s home, learn how to photograph kingfisher birds or do a workshop ‘embroidering for bitches’.
Gidsy is only available in six cities so far, but if you are lucky to live in Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco or London, you can book activities or offer your own. If you plan to visit any of these cities for business or leisure, you can book an acitivity to get to know the place in a different way. You can reserve online, read reviews and share activities you like with your friends.
There’s some activities that are especially interesting for startups coming up. In Amsterdam you can book a Startup Networking & Coaching lunch on March 15, 2012 and in Berlin there’s a StartUpTour on March 30, 2012.
The founders of Gidsy, two Dutch brothers who live in Berlin, are planning to expand to many more cities. Ashton Kutcher invested in their startup, so we’ll probably hear more about it.
