Today, we proudly present to you Rockstart Accelerator Smart Energy! We created a new accelerator program to help startups that merge internet technology with energy systems boost their business and get better funding opportunities. ‘Smart Energy’ is the first Accelerator program of its kind in Europe.
Rockstart believes that entrepreneurship and making the world a better place should go hand in hand. It is obvious to everyone that our energy resources have limits, and that we need to accelerate innovation in this critical area that affects everyone’s life. That is why they think it is crucial to support smart energy startups and stimulate the transition towards a future-proof energy system.
We select 10 early stage startups after an international call for applications. The program runs for an intensive period of 100 days during which the startups are closely coached by top-tier entrepreneurs, CEO’s and field experts. The first milestone of the program is Demo Day: the event where startups go on stage to present their business in front of a crowd of investors, executives and press. After Demo Day the focus turns from building the business to deal-making, fundraising and exploring international markets. This second phase of 3 months focuses on growing the business, find clients, explore funding opportunities, and expand to new markets.
The 10 selected startups are offered €20,000 in cash investment, and an additional in kind investment valued at around €45,000 consisting of office space and other facilities, and intensive support from a network of mentors. This investment helps the teams stay focused and on track for Demo Day, where they can showcase their businesses to investors and media.
We intend to drive innovation in the energy sector and are open to all startups that help reduce our energy /CO2 footprint. However, the main focus is on the intersection of I.T. and clean-tech, particularly in areas of:
- Smart homes, meters and grids
- Collective and decentralized energy generation and distribution
- Awareness and energy reduction
- Energy trade
Applications for our new program open on Monday, September 16 and runs until October 31. m/
